Memorable Moments

1973 FA Cup Final: Sunderland vs. Leeds United

Featuring Jim Montgomery’s famous double save at Wembley Stadium.

"Sitting on my dad’s knee, holding a black-and-orange football, watching Sunderland play Leeds United. I remember the overwhelming feeling of safety as I was lifted high into the air whenever anything happened, a memory that has stayed with me forever."

— Katie Wilson (Arsenal)

Two Minutes Past Eight | Football Blog Two Minutes Past Eight Football, friendship, and feeling okay. Issue #1 • September 26 Hi, Welcome to my new fanzine. It might be a one-off, it might turn into something bigger — I'll just see how it goes. I wanted to make something simple and football-shaped, nothing formal, just a place to talk about the game, the memories, the daft moments, and the things that keep us steady. Part of that matchday culture, for many, involves having a pint. Sitting aro...

Behind every controversial call and chorus of boos is a human being doing a job most of us couldn't handle. Every weekend, up and down the country, thousands of referees step onto football pitches taking on one of the most thankless jobs in sport. Rain or shine, whether officiating in front of one man and his dog on a freezing park pitch or surrounded by tens of thousands in a packed stadium, they blow the whistle to make our national game possible. Yet, the moment the match kicks off, these officials are met with a barrage of hostility, scrutiny, and unrelenting pressure. Football supporters get so completely lost in the passion and high stakes of the 90 minutes that it becomes all too easy to forget there...
